Top defensive tackle has UF in top three
There were quite a few Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson prospects in attendance during the University of Florida's second Junior day of the recruiting cycle last Saturday. Part of that group was defensive tackle JaFar Mann. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound prospect talked about his experience in Gainesville.
"I went down there (Gainesville) and enjoyed it," said Mann. "I had a lot of fun going down there with my teammates. I just had overall good time. I was able to talk to Coach [Will] Muschamp and basically told me where I stood and that he would like to see me down there."
There was something that stood out to Mann that really impressed him.
"They act more like family rather than acting like regular coaches. Like they made me feel like I've been going down there for year now."
During the trip a teammate of Mann from Stephenson High school (Mike Davis) committed to Florida. Mann talked how that impacted him and how it could affect his recruiting process down the road.
"It definitely affected me. I was happy for him, it was his birthday and he was able to go in there and commit. I didn't know what was going to happen next."
The Georgia defensive lineman is still being sought after by a lot of top school around such as Auburn, Tennessee, Miami, and South Carolina. Even though coming off a great weekend at Florida, Mann states that Tennessee and Miami are still in it.
"Florida, Miami, and Tennessee are the schools that I'm most interested in right now. I like a lot of schools but those are the ones that stick out the most to me."
So what's next for Mann?
"I really don't know where I'm going next. I want to go up to Tennessee sometime and see what's happening there. It's all about where our coach takes us so I don't know."
