Position change pays off for Harrison-Gay
Logan Lowery
BulldogBlitz.com When Corvell Harrison-Gay committed to Mississippi State his goal was to become the next great Bulldog linebacker.
But after arriving over the summer and getting in Matt Balis' weight program it was determined that the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder's future would be at defensive end.
"When I came here my goal was to play linebacker," Harrison-Gay said. "But I kept putting on weight and they called Coach (Chris) Wilson in and I asked him which position fit me best. He said that end would fit me the best."
The move allowed Harrison-Gay to play as one of only three true freshmen to see the field this season for MSU. He played in four games suiting up against Alcorn State, Houston, Alabama and Arkansas.
Despite the position change, Harrison-Gay is happy with his decision to become a Bulldog. He committed to State a few days after playing in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.
