Ferguson finds the right fit in Starkville
Sean Ferguson had several options coming out of Norland High School in Miami, Fla., in 2008.
Most of Ferguson's offers would have kept him in the Sunshine State but when a scholarship came in from Mississippi State of the Southeastern Conference it was too good to pass up.
"Actually Mississippi State was my only SEC offer and I've always wanted to compete with the best," Ferguson said. "They were in the SEC so I figured I'd come here. I wanted to leave Miami and get as far away from home as possible. I didn't want to get into trouble in my neighborhood staying down there so I left. It was time to grow up."
The move has been mutually beneficial for both Ferguson and the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-3, 255-pound junior defensive end has played in 34 games and has started since his true freshman season. Overall, Ferguson has made 13 career starting calls making 52 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and one sack.
