Junior LB discusses recent trip to Rutgers
Rutgers had a lot of recruits in town last weekend for their game against North Carolina, and one of the top junior prospects at the contest was Quanzell Lambert.
Lambert, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound inside linebacker from Sicklerville (N.J.) Timber Creek, won't be stepping into the spotlight until next year. That's because a pair of his senior teammates, Damiere Byrd and Quinton Alston, have commanded most of the attention thus far.
Nonetheless, it would be foolish to overlook Lambert. He has been one of the most active defensive prospects in the state. Through four games Timber Creek is just 2-2 but Lambert has been outstanding. He recorded 14 tackles in their most recent game and has about 50 on the season.
Though some schools have said he could conceivably play defensive end if he bulks up enough over the next couple of years most schools think linebacker is where he is best suited for the next level.
He had a great time at Rutgers last week.
"I liked it a lot," he recalled. "Coach [Phil] Galiano and the other coaches are great people. You're able to talk to them. I like the school because they've got the whole athletics-academics thing going."
Lambert will be at Penn State's game next weekend against Illinois.
Over the summer he attended a NIKE event and he also went to Maryland with his teammates for a camp.
