The absence of an effective running game is typically a major obstacle to overcome at any level of football and it's certainly been a problem area for Arizona State over the last two seasons, when the team finished eight and ninth in rushing offense in the Pac-10 respectively. Not surprisingly, the team finished with losing season in each season, despite having an impressive defense.
