MSU commit ready for senior season
Rufus Warren has felt like a celebrity since he returned to his hometown of Indianola, Miss., after giving his commitment to Mississippi State last month at camp.
The three-star tight end has been in the spotlight thanks to the local media lately but with football season fast approaching Warren is ready to focus on his senior year.
"Actually since I committed it's been media, media and more media," Warren said. "But I still find time to get in the weight room and get back into football shape. I'm enjoying all the attention but I'm about ready for it to be all over with so I can concentrate on playing football this year."
The small town of just over 12,000 has embraced their hometown hero's decision as have Warren's teammates at Gentry High School.
"This city is very excited to see me become a Bulldog," Warren said. "As a matter of fact, last week I did a story with town newspaper. Everybody is just very happy for me. My teammates have been loving it. They say that they are very happy for me and that they've got my back this season to make sure that I show out when I get to Mississippi State."
Warren gave MSU his commitment on June 15 after attending the Bulldogs three-day camp. He chose State over an offer from Delta State and was also being pursued by Southern Miss and Ole Miss as well.
