Carr is on track to qualify
Michael Carr has made several commitments over the last year.
The talented wide receiver made a commitment to play at Mississippi State, made a commitment to help West Point win the state championship and finally a commitment in the classroom in order to qualify for college.
Carr took one major step towards attaining that final goal this week passing his state exit exam. That combined with his already qualified ACT score leaves the chances pretty favorable that he will be suiting up for the Bulldogs in the fall.
"I'm getting real close," Carr said with a smile. "I'm almost there by the hair on my chinny chin chin. I've just been working to pass that state test and I did. I just give all the glory to God for that. I need to smile every day about that. That's a lot of relief."
The former four-star prospect was so committed to his class work that he gave up his senior season of basketball in order to concentrate on academics. Carr was considered one of the top hoops prospects in Mississippi for the class of 2010.
"It's paying off big time," Carr said of giving up basketball this season.
Carr also passed up an opportunity to play in the prestigious Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Classic in Mobile in order to take the ACT, which was scheduled on the same day as the game. He instead opted to play in the Bernard Blackwell All-Star game catching four passes for 53 yards in that contest.
