Seals set for prep school
Columbia, S.C. defensive end Trey Seals did not like the offers he has from several Division-IAA programs coming out of high school so he made the decision to attend Hargrave Military Academy in the fall.
The move seems to already be paying off and he hasn't even graduated from Spring Valley High School yet. Several big name schools have been in contact with the future prep school standout.
"It's been picking up pretty well," Seals said. "I've been in contact with Oregon, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Auburn. Those are pretty much the main schools that are now looking at me when I get to Hargrave."
Seals had offers from Richmond, South Carolina State North Greenville as well as Independence (Kan.) Community College and a preferred walk-on spot at Temple.
"One of the reasons I chose Hargrave is because coming out of high school the only offers that I had were Division-IAA offers like Richmond and South Carolina State," Seals said. "They offered me but I couldn't get into the schools because of my SAT score. I started talking to different coaches about my opportunities and one of them told me about Hargrave. I looked them up on the internet and saw that they had a combine. I drove up there and tried out for the team and they picked me."
But Seals is hoping that a year at one of the top prep schools in the country will help him get the exposure needed as well as help him in the classroom as well.
