Jefferson was blown away at Maryland
Pittsburgh (Pa.) Woodland Hills defensive end Quinton Jefferson visiting the University of Maryland not too long ago and he had a great time checking out the school and the football program.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound prospect was, in his own words, blown away by what he saw and experienced in College Park.
"I actually visited Maryland about a week or two ago. It was their junior day for out of town guys and it was actually real nice," he recalled.
"The campus is just beautiful. It was a nice experience. I got to talk to the head coach and the assistant coaches. They were just telling me about the campus, the education and everything. I had a good time. Again, the campus was just beautiful. That blew me away."
He enjoyed Maryland so much, in fact, that he plans on returning to the school for the football team's spring game in a couple of weeks. Before that he will be at Syracuse next weekend for the Orange's spring game.
Illinois and Iowa are the schools that offered Jefferson most recently. Though he hasn't spoken to anyone from Illinois yet, he has been in touch with the Hawkeyes.
"I've been talking to Iowa all the time," Jefferson said. "They offered me maybe two weeks ago. From what they're telling me it's sounds good, but I've got to get out there to see it for myself."
Jefferson said he does not have a timetable for when he would like to make his decision. He said he would like to make his choice before the season so he can concentrate entirely on his senior year, but he realizes it might take longer than that.
"I don't really have any favorites, mostly because I haven't seen all the schools," he concluded. "Once I get to see the schools and talk to the coaches then I can start to make that decision."
