Jermaine Whitehead thought he might receive an offer from Auburn Saturday when he visited the Plains.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound cornerback was right.

Whitehead, from Amanda Elzy High in Greenwood, Miss., added Auburn to his offer list that already included Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Stanford, Southern Miss and Memphis.

"Getting an offer from Auburn was great," said Whitehead. "Coach (Gene) Chizik told me I was the kind of guy they were looking for. It felt good to get the offer, but it felt better to hear him say that....
