Long snapper visiting Miss. State
Mississippi State long snapper Aaron Feld is entering his final season for the Bulldogs and the search is already underway for his replacement.
Porter's Chapel Academy (Miss.) tight end Reed Gordon will take an official visit to Starkville this weekend to speak with coaches about walking-on as the new long snapper.
"Mississippi State is high up there," Gordon said. "They want me for deep snapper. They can't give me an offer right now because they want me for deep snapper and they have one. They want me to walk-on for a year and then get his scholarship when he graduates or if another scholarship comes up like if someone transfers then I may get that one. It's not if I'm going to get one but when I'll get a scholarship."
This will be the first official visit for the 6-foot-5, 232-pounder from Vicksburg.
"I'm going to meet with the coaches when I get there," Gordon said. "We're going over to Coach (Dan) Mullen's house and then going around to the facilities to see what's going on. I've went up there a couple of times because my brothers went to school there and I've been to some games. I really just want to see how I will fit into their program and how everything will work out. I'm really excited about going because it's not something that many people get to do and I'm really excited for this opportunity."
Gordon also has a visit to Arkansas-Monticello next weekend. He has offers from the Boll Weevils as well as Henderson State as a tight end.
