Sanders eager for weekend in Oxford
Vincent Sanders has been to Ole Miss more times than he can count.
The four-star wide receiver from Macon (Noxubee County), Miss., has been to a handful of the Rebels' games in the past two season, attended football camp and recently dropped in to see Ole Miss and Mississippi State go after one another on the basketball floor.
Still, Sanders will show up in Oxford this weekend on an official visit with some questions.
"I just want to see whether I fit in," Sanders said. "I want to go out and be with the teammates. I think I'll fit in pretty good. I'm not a bad person, so it shouldn't be a problem."
Sanders, a 6-foot-3, 182-pounder rated by Rivals.com as the No. 2 prospect in Mississippi and the No. 15 wide receiver prospect in the country, took an official visit to Mississippi State last weekend. He'll visit Florida State on Jan. 29. Those three schools have emerged as the clear finalists for Sanders' collegiate services.
"Right now, I still haven't made my mind up," Sanders said. "I'm not close to a decision."
As for his visit to Mississippi State, Sanders described his time in Starkville simply as "good," adding that the Bulldogs "didn't hurt their chances or anything."
While Sanders has stirred the Magnolia State rumor mill every time he's made an appearance in Oxford or Starkville, Sanders said it would be a mistake to simply assume that he'll one day participate in the Egg Bowl rivalry shared by the two Southeastern Conference programs.
Florida State, Sanders said, has "just as good a chance. They have a good program and they're turning it around. Florida State was my dream school growing up."
Sanders plans to announce his decision on WCBI-TV in Columbus, Miss., on Feb. 3.
