Notebook: Missed opportunities haunt O
Auburn's dominating first quarter had Georgia on the ropes. The Tigers opened with two straight touchdown drives and began its third series in Bulldog territory.
But just when the Tigers were poised to bury the Bulldogs, the offense came unraveled.
An incompletion, a tackle-for-loss and sack ended Auburn's third drive. After racking up 156 yards on its first two possessions, AU managed just 51 on its next four possessions of the first half.
"We'll look back on the second quarter when we had those opportunities and didn't get those points, we'll look back and that will hurt us," offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn said.
It wasn't until late in the third quarter when AU could put together a drive with multiple first downs -- a 7-play, 56-yarder that tied the game at 17.
The offense wouldn't score again the rest of the night.
