Aggies show character in rebound win
Two weeks ago Texas A&M was crushed at Kansas State, 62-14. A week before that Kansas was equally pummeled by Texas Tech, 66-14. So how in the world did the Aggies travel to Lubbock Saturday and humiliate the No. 21 Red Raiders, 52-30, at Jones AT&T Stadium?
Apart from not listening to their "fat little girlfriends" as Tech head coach Mike Leach eloquently put it after the Red Raiders' loss, surprisingly the Aggies said they really didn't do anything different in preparation for Tech.
"I don't see a big difference in the practices between Kansas State and Texas Tech. We've been practicing real consistent, just hard and fast and really good practices," said A&M sophomore safety Trent Hunter. "I don't know what it was why Kansas State was so bad and I don't know why Texas Tech was so good. I think we just came out and just played. I really don't have an explanation of why it was. There wasn't anything we did extra or anything we did less. We just came out and had a good week of practice again."
If there was anything different, it was the tone set early in the week by head coach Mike Sherman who said following the win over Texas Tech, "I told the guys during the week that this game was more about them as a man than it was about them as a football player and how they needed to respond and play this ballgame."
