Kentucky's defense didn't do anything fancy Saturday night in Jordan-Hare Stadium, at least not according to Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.

"They just played base defense and made us earn everything," Malzahn said. "And we didn't do a good job of earning anything tonight."

For the second consecutive week, the Tigers' offense was inconsistent to say the least. Quarterback Chris Todd completed just 10-of-24 passes (54.3-percent) for 80 yards, no touchdowns and an interception as Kentucky beat the Tigers 21-14 on a chilly and windy night on the Plains.

Running back Ben Tate rushed for 132 yards on a career-high 31 carries and scored a touchdown. But the senior was the lone bright spot on the night for the Auburn offense.

Thirty-seven of Todd's 80 yards passing came on one completion. The other nine went for 44 yards, an average of less than five yards a completion.

But Malzahn was ready to point any fingers following the Tigers' first loss to Kentucky since 1966.
